Donnybrook Excursion

As part of our focus on community helpers and history, we went on an excursion of Donnybrook's community with Rooms 2 and 3. We took up two buses, mixed groups and visited a number of places around Donnybrook.

We went to the local museum where we saw a lot of old things.
An old phone. How different
is it to mum's mobile?
An old slate used at school. Now we have
mini whiteboards or iPads.

A typewriter. Today we might
use a computer instead.
We met some firefighters at the Donnybrook Fire Station.
We learnt about fire protection gear.
The firefighters demonstrated using
the jaws of life.

One of our parent helpers volunteered
in the stretcher.
Some of us got to hold the fire hose.

We got a tour of the Police Station where we saw where the guns get kept, the court room, the old lock up, the current cell, and a paddy wagon.

Naughty kids locked up in the cell.
They don't look too happy about it!

Getting arrested
We had a tour of the post office and learnt how the mail gets sorted.

Where the parcels are kept for collection
We posted a letter and followed the process to
sorting the mail.

Our last stop was the famous Apple Fun Park.

We had such a good time (even though the weather wasn't the best) and we thank the parent helpers and Donnybrook community for such a great day.
